If you want to take the Digital SAT this fall, you have two weekend dates left in 2026: November 7 and December 5. Regular registration for November 7 closes on October 23, 2026, and late registration (for an additional fee) runs until October 27. If you need more time, December 5 is a solid choice, with a regular deadline of November 20.
Dates below come from College Board's published 2026-27 calendar. They can change, so confirm them on your College Board account before you plan around them.

SAT Weekend deadlines expire at 11:59 p.m. ET. College Board says most weekend-test scores are released two to four weeks after test day, and the scheduled dates above fall at the early end of that range.
Why November 7 can make sense
You are already prepared. If your practice scores have levelled off and you have been studying for weeks, waiting rarely adds much. Taking the test while the material is fresh is a reasonable plan.
It gives you a second chance this year. A November 7 score arrives on November 20. If you are not happy with it, you can still register for December 5 on time, because the regular deadline is that same day, November 20, and late registration runs through November 24. That leaves about two weeks between your November scores and the December test, so decide quickly and use them to fix specific weak spots.
Your applications have early deadlines. If you are applying early, check each college's testing policy and its deadline for receiving scores. Policies vary by school, so look them up on each college's own admissions page.
Why December 5 can make sense
You need more practice time. If you registered late in your prep, or your practice scores are still moving up, the extra four weeks can be worth more than an earlier test date.
You want a calmer registration. The November 7 deadline is October 23. If you are not sure about a date, you do not have to rush into one.
You are not applying early. If your target schools have regular deadlines in the new year, a December score still arrives well before most of them. Always confirm the dates with the colleges you are considering.
The tradeoff is that if December does not go as planned, the next weekend test is March 6, 2027, which leaves a long gap before a retake.
A quick way to decide
Take a full-length practice test this week
Use a timed, full-length Digital SAT practice test and look at the score, not just how it felt.
Check your target colleges' deadlines
Write down each school's testing policy and the last test date it accepts for your application round.
Look at your last two practice scores
If they are close to your goal and steady, November 7 is a reasonable pick. If they are still climbing, December 5 gives that trend room to continue.
Register before the deadline and note the change date
Register in your College Board account, and keep the change and cancellation deadline in your calendar in case your plans shift.
Tip for parents: Ask your student which date they prefer and why, then check the deadline together. Most of the stress comes from a rushed decision on the last day, not from either date.
Make your practice count
Whichever date you choose, the weeks before the test are best spent on your weakest question types rather than on re-doing material you already know. Our Digital SAT guide explains how the adaptive format works, and what to do after you take the test covers score release, retakes and sending scores. If you are weighing whether to try again, see How to Get a Perfect Score on the SAT for how to plan your study time. You can also browse the SAT guide and practice tests.
